A New Seat at the Table

This used to be our expression at my host-family in Germany, “We lay a new table cover at the table.”

On Saturday, we will be too, welcoming Marc, a new member of our family! He is with the same program as I attended last-year, but coming from Germany to the USA.

I think, personally, it will be interesting to see what my host-family experienced in person and just a great way to be able to meet new, incredible people and open our home to them.

I will be blogging as well as Marc this year about our experiences and what we see. I think it will be like the exchange year all over again and I am really excited! We will see 🙂

We can’t wait to meet him at the airport!

Also, stay tuned for updates on the e-commerce website coming up at the end of the month! I hope your excited as I am!

I will be offering a free raffle picture giveaway. In order to be eligible, you need to complete a purchase of a piece of art on the site (the money will be going toward a travel fundraiser) and your name will be automatically entered for the raffle. Check out the post here to see what it’s all about!

As always, all the best and thanks for reading! It’s incredible how many new things can happen in just a year. Yesterday, last year, was the day I first arrived in Germany :’) And it will always hold a place in my heart and one of my “homes”.

Home is where family is…. What does home stand for to you? Tell us below 🙂 Everyone has a story.

To You,

PS: And again happy b-day to my Host-Grandma! And Condolences to the Robin Williams’ family for their loss.

Become a Host Family in North Carolina, or another state… we are.

Are you interested in culture or travel? What if I told you that you could experience a culture and stay at home? That’s right!

In North Carolina (even other states), CIEE is in need of host families, ordinary people like you and me, who would like to impact someone’s life or get to know a new culture and open their doors to the world to a privileged child.

Did you know we will be hosting a Congress Bundestag kid this year, from Germany? Oops, that was a surprise :O

If your even the slightest bit interested or think, hey that’s a cool idea, let CIEE know. It will impact your life and most certainly for the better. And they will be happy to assist you with any questions or concern you might have 😉

If your interested, please complete the form below and I will forward all the emails to the CIEE Coordinator, Ms. Stanley.

As I said, if your slightly interested, just send an email. You cannot even begin to believe how incredible this would be for you and your kids or other members.

I know my host-family in Germany thought it was definitely an experience of a lifetime. My host mom even applied as a local coordinator in Germany and said she would host other students again.

I’m telling you, it will be an awesome experience.. Just send an email below.

Have a great day,

Is Europe Really That Beautiful? Like Switzerland?….

Have you travelled before?

Maybe to another town? Or state? Or even another country?  Well most of you all know that every place, whether it’s a few miles or a few thousand miles away is different. They have a different culture and people and ways of dressing and eating.

What about Europe? Think for a moment….What do you think Europe is like?

And like what are some cool places to visit when you’re there? Today, Igor Travel’s Abroad will be about….

Ahh, the Alps and the Slopes and the Country Side houses! Just BeauTiFul!

Largest city ZĂźrich
Demonym Swiss
Government Federal multi-party directorial republic with elements of direct democracy

Switzerland (German: Schweiz; French: Suisse; Italian: Svizzera; Romansh: Svizra), officially the Swiss Confederation (Latin: Confoederatio Helvetica. That’s why the abbreviation is CH), is a federal parliamentary republic consisting of 26 cantons, with Bern as the seat of the federal authorities, the so-called Bundesstadt (“federal city”). The country is situated in Western and Central Europe, where it is bordered by Italy to the south, France to the west, Germany to the north, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east. Switzerland is a landlocked country geographically divided between the Alps, the Swiss Plateau and the Jura, spanning an area of 41,285 km2 (15,940 sq mi). While the Alps occupy the greater part of the territory, the Swiss population of approximately 8 million people is concentrated mostly on the Plateau, where the largest cities are to be found. Among them are the two global cities and economic centres of ZĂźrich and Geneva.

Some famous places in Switzerland are Lake Geneva and the Alps. Many people go there for vacation, skiing, snowboarding and trying the local cheese and wine.

Here is a local Cafe, Vineyards and Lake Geneva from a video I took.

A wonderful place to stay during the Winter Season and containing some of the most beautiful slops, Grächen/St. Nikolaus is a place everyone should visit. Maybe on a honeymoon or Christmas break, the scenery and local ski city is to die for. It’s also a great place for family and kids.

There’s nothing better than hitting the slopes at -25′

See that mountain above my hand? That’s the Paramount Pictures Mountain featured in the beginning of all those movies!

After looking around on the Internet, I compiled a few cool places in Switzerland that look cool to visit, or people I know have visited.

For all you hikers, here are some beautiful Trails…

Of Course, let’s not forget the traditional Swiss Cheese and Chocolate!

How the cheese is made (really cool, short video!):

I hope you enjoyed the brief and quick post about Switzerland, home of cheese, chocolate, incredible ski slopes and a beautiful wine country. Maybe you might even make it a stop on your next trip to Europe with your family? Who knows?

Have a great day and Auf Wiedersehen.
